2005: The entire membership of the Texas House of Representatives elects Rep. Armando "Mando" Martinez as the 79th Legislative Session "Freshman of the Year” (Democrat)

2009: Down By The Border recognizes Rep. Armando "Mando" Martinez as a "Texas Capitol Hero" for his role in creating the Medicaid Buy-In Program, which has helped hundreds of working families in Texas provide much-needed care for their special needs children without going bankrupt.

Representative Martinez serves our community not expecting anything in return. Nonetheless, his peers and several advocacy groups have recognized and celebrated his hard work and dedication since he first entered the Texas Legislature.

2017: The Texas State Teachers Association recognizes Rep. Armando "Mando" Martinez with a "Most Valuable Legislator" Award for his support to schoolchildren during the 85th Legislative Session.

2009: The Texas State Association of Firefighters presents Rep. Armando "Mando" Martinez with the Outstanding Defensive Legislative Award for his policy contributions during the 81st Texas Legislative Session.

2013: The Texas Municipal Police Association presents Rep. Armando "Mando" Martinez with the "Guardian of the year Award" for serving as a voice for our peace officers in the State of Texas!

Jan. 13, 2022: The Hidalgo County Tejano Democrats names Rep. Armando "Mando" Martinez the recipient of the "Tejano Eagle Award" for serving as a strong advocate for the Rio Grande Valley and the State of Texas.

May 16, 2019: The Texas State Teachers Association presents Rep. Armando "Mando" Martinez with the Region 6 “Friend of Education” Award for recognizing that success comes with opportunity and opportunity comes through education!
